Each sport and discipline has at least one event. An event is defined in the Olympic Charter as a competition in a sport or in one of its disciplines, resulting in a ranking and giving rise to the award of medals and diplomas. For example in short track, which is a skating discipline, 500 m, 1,000 m, 1,500 m, etc. races are events conducted as part of the short track program. (See Olympic Charter Rule 46.2)

Определение времени события
Существуют три различных вида событий, что требует специальной процедуры распределения времени:-
Если событие определяется как результат вычисления ( внутреннее или вычисленное событие), распределение времени (присвоение метки времени) выполняется немедленно в пределах временного разрешения тактового генератора. Никаких особых мер не требуется.

Если событие определяется как изменение дискретного входа, должна быть учтена задержка на устранение дребезга входного контакта. Время события должно быть локально скорректировано.

Если событие определяется как изменение аналогового входа, должна быть учтена задержка на процедуру фильтрации входной цепи. Время события должно быть локально скорректировано.
